Aral Sea Stories

Aral Sea Stories

I came upon this piece on CRISAP that details to changing sound of the Aral Sea in Central Asia. The change in sound reflects the way the sea has been used in a 60 year period. Interviews, voice recordings, environmental sounds, snow dripping and urban environments all give an explanation of a changing sound scape in the region. This is done to show how the Sea has shrunk due to its poor water usage in the last 60 years which has had much of an effect on the surrounding locals and wildlife. This is a really interesting piece and a enjoyable listen. It is very transformative and can make you feel like your in the sea area. This is inspiring for my piece as I would like to maybe detail a process like this in somewhere more personal to me.
