Stolen Voices
Stolen voices
I completed a rough plan for this piece using a number of sound sources. This included a sounds produced from my smartphone using an electromagnetic microphone. I then collected a few ringtones and Siri sounds which I warped using Paulstretch. I then collected a load of voices from some open data sources including voices which are used for machine learning. Overall I’m pleased with the piece however I’m not sure if I will have time to make it into a sound diffusion piece so it may only be restricted to a stereo recording.

I got all my data from open sources. These included the https://dagshub.com/kingabzpro/Acted-Emotional-Speech-Dynamic-Database, https://dagshub.com/mert.bozkirr/Arabic-Speech-Corpus, https://dagshub.com/kinkusuma/daps-dataset, https://dagshub.com/kingabzpro/EMOVO.
The reason I chose these data sets are because some are used in machine learning to produce more streamlined AI. This is a process that smartphones use to create voice assistants which is very relevant to my topic.
