This is a collection of work i have come across that has given ideas as to what i can do. These all relate to my original concept in some way and are helping to form my idea.

VINYL: Maybe it’s time we had an intervention

This is a youtube video i came across when researching the previous essay project. The video offers lots of insight into the production and negative effects of vinyl and what alternatives there are to minimise this. There was an experiment which i found particularly interesting involving an air quality monitor an a record player. Multiple records were played and all caused the amount of TVCO’s (Total Organic Volatile Compound) to increase dramatically to a point where short term inhalation could be potentially harmful.

The Echo of our Breath.

The echo of our breath is a sound art installation produced by former MA sound student Yifeat Ziv. I came across this piece when looking through previous student work on the UAL Sound Art page. It works by placing CO2 monitors in a room and playing ambient forest sound. As more CO2 is added to the room by people exhaling the sounds of the forest get quieter showcasing how humans impact nature. This idea is similar to mine using sensors and focusing on the issues of human impact.
